EFFECTIVENESS OF HEALTH EDUCATION ON MATERNAL MOTIVATION IN MONITORING FETAL MOVEMENTS IN PREGNANT WOMEN AT RISK

Background: Risk pregnancy can increase the incidence of mortality or morbidity in the mother and fetus. This incident can be minimized by monitoring fetal movements. Mothers’knowledge about monitoring fetal movements can be done by providing health education with videos of fetal movements.
Objective. The aim of this research is to determine the effectiveness of providing health education on maternal motivation in risk pregnancies.
Method. This research was conducted at the Outpatient Midwifery Clinic at Arifin Achmad Hospital, Riau Province. This type of research was Pre Experimental using a pre-test - post-test design without control group, with a sample size of 30 respondents, this type of sampling uses a purposive sampling technique. Univariate analysis in this study used descriptive tests and central tendency, and bivariate analysis used the Paired T-test.
Results. The research results showed that the pre-test average was 44.33 in the high motivation category and the post-test average was 50.17 in the high motivation category. The bivariate test results obtained a p-value of 0.001 so that health education was effectively carried out to motivate mothers to monitor fetal movements. Pregnant women are expected to maintain their motivation about monitoring fetal movements at home to avoid pregnancy complications.
